After becoming the surprise hit of the summer, Warner Bros. wasted no time announcing the sequel. Atlantic City, Monte Carlo, Hong Kong...there are many, many more sinful cities for the boys to continue their inebriated exploits.

BATTLESHIP Universal

“You sunk my battleship!” Believe it or not, those familiar words will be coming soon to a theatre near you; August 5, 2011, in fact. Universal has set late summer for “Battleship,” which is based on the classic Hasbro board game of the same name. Will this be a big “hit” or a massive “miss?” Well, as of now, the Peter Berg (“Hancock”) directed film doesn’t have any direct competition, but that will probably change as 2011 is fleshed out.

Universal is in the Hasbro biz for the long term, as the studio also has “Stretch Armstrong” set for release April 15, 2011, and “Candyland,” “Ouija,” and “Monopoly,” among others, on the fast track for production.

So does this mean that is Hollywood officially bankrupt in the idea department? What’s next? “Magic 8-Ball: The Movie,”  “Slinky: It’s a Wonderful Thing” Don’t laugh. I’m sure they’re both being considered right now.

MARVIN THE MARTIAN Warner Bros.
No image

The most famous man from Mars finally gets his own movie! Warner Bros. has locked down a date for the Looney Tunes alum. No word yet on whether or not it's live-action or animated, but when a title is announced this far off, always bet on animation. Odds are that rascally rabbit, Bugs Bunny, will be showing up, too.
